This week's and next week’s local heroes have had their lives and businesses turned upside down by the Covid-19 pandemic. Both run popular cafés in Torridon and have been doing all they can to support the community - despite a large downturn in their income - when they may well have been tempted to close their businesses and furlough themselves during lockdown.
Step forward, Jo 'Shop' Harris, who is nominated for helping to keep us supplied with essentials and wee luxuries at the Store by the Shore. Many people have really appreciated the flexible hours she has been available for the collection of orders and her ability to source items she doesn't normally stock.
Next up, it’s Lis Broome of the Wee Whistle Stop at Torridon Community Centre. Takeaway nights have been a popular feature of lockdown, with many people lured out of their homes for delicious Fish Friday and declaring it the highlight of their week!
We hope Jo and Lis both have a successful rest of the year, and their businesses are now more viable. Wee thank you gifts will be with them shortly, but here they are in all their glory!
Nominations
You can nominate anyone in your community, just tell us who (and very briefly why) has made a real difference to you during Covid-19. Send your email to TKCCCOVID19@gmail.com. Awards will be made throughout July & August.
